Amalfi Coast

Today was the most unbelievable day.  Hoping I can do it justice in this post.  We docked at Salerno and boarded a private launch where the 6 of us along with our Captain (Pietro Paulo) and our English speaking guide (Natalie) took us on a day trip to remember.

First we cruised to our furtherest point of Capri, passing along the coast. We stopped at Capri for a bit of sightseeing where we took the funicular to the top of the island to the square to view the magnificence of the port below us.

Then back on board ....... which means we text our guide and tell her we are ready to get back on board, they cruise up to a pier, we jump on and motor off to our next wonderful destination.  They took us to view the Blue Grotto but when we got there explained how you then need to get into smaller boats to go in to the grotto.  The line up of boats and people were horrendous and they
told us how commercialized it has now got.  They took us a bit further around the island to the green grotto ......... magical. This one has a tunnel running through it.  We jumped into the beautiful warm water where we swam through and the boat proceeded to motor to the other side to collect us.

During the day they had snacks, beers, wines & of course non alcoholic beverages for us ....... talk about lifestyles of the rich and famous as that is how we felt.  Then off to a small village along the coastline where a boat drove up to us, we jumped on board and they motored us back to a restaurant.  We had lunch here then did the reverse to get back to our boat.   Another bay, another swim in that gorgeous water.  Then a closer ride back along the Amalfi Coastline passing towns of Positano and Amalfi to name a couple.  Our guide told us some interesting stories like the hotel she pointed out to us owned by an American lady.  Took 14 years to renovate ....... 13 years of beaurocracy and red tape, and just 1 year of renovation work.

We were then taken into the white grotto on our launch as it was large and deep, which was simply amazing.  Back to Salerno where they called a taxi for us and it was waiting as soon as we docked to take us back to our cruise ship.  I'm sorry but if you get a chance to do this it is a must.  We pinched ourselves several times throughout the day as it all seemed to good to be true.
