Eagle's Nest

Today we ventured up into the hills that are alive to see Hitler's Eagle's Nest which was a gift to him for his 50th birthday. It took 13 months to build this. They have specially designed buses to get us up to the top. The road up didn't have guard rails & we had to go through five tunnels before reaching the peak.
When you get to the top you have to walk through a tunnel,
which is big enough to fit the car that drove Hitler there. At the end of the tunnel you get into a specially designed lift made of polished brass. Hitler was claustrophobic & this made it seem bigger to him.
Once up there the views are magnificent.
On the way back we stopped at a small village for lunch & a quick look around.
The bus & tour guide were both spotted having a beer or two with their lunches. (We were sure to wear our seat belts on the way back).
There was an Oom-pah
band & Jaz & Kaz could not control themselves. They provided entertainment to the tourists & had to kiss the players to have their photos taken with them.
Tonight was spent sight seeing The Old Town & catching up for dinner.
